New Zealand Herald, 22 January 1898, Page 4 (Supplement)
Owen C. Pleasants is a native of London, but practically a New Zealander, having resided in the colony since he was two years of age. He took part in the 1893-94 Congress and made a creditable display. That he did not do better at the Congress just closed is probably owing to the fact that he was distracted by divided 'devotion between Cupid and Caissa. Mr. Pleasants was only recently married.
