Hawke's Bay Herald 15 November 1870 I much regret to say that, in consequence of Mr. R, Deighton's severe indisposition, none of the family were present. Mr. Deighton h:is the sympathy of the entire settlement; and their hopes for bis speedy recovery.
New Zealand Mail 11 December 1880 Our Solution Tourney has been carried off by Mr. R. J. Deighton, of Clyde, with a score of 36; Mr. W. E. Barraud, of Wellington, however, ran him extremely close with a total of 35, Mr. Thos. Sexton, of Feilding, was well up with 31 to his credit. Our thanks are due to all three for the time and attention bestowed by them on the solving of so many positions.
